Questions
Common questions about Professional Tax
What is the difference between PTRC and PTEC?
PTRC is the employer's registration to deduct PT from employees' salaries and pay it to the state. PTEC is the enrolment under which the business pays its own annual PT. Most employers in Maharashtra need both.
Is Professional Tax the same in every state?
No. It is a state tax. Some states do not levy it at all, and each state that does sets its own slabs, due dates and forms. We handle PT for your branches in every state that levies it.
We have missed PT payments. What now?
Pay the arrears as soon as you can, because interest and penalties keep running. We work out the amount, file any pending returns and help you reply to notices.
Did the Labour Codes change Professional Tax?
No. Professional Tax is a state law and was not part of the Labour Codes, so it continues as before.
